Essential Tools and Capabilities
Global Knowledge Trust—Energy Voyager is actively working with members of the Global Knowledge Trust to identify breakthrough ideas, discoveries, and inventions, especially at the “inter-tidal” zones, or convergence points, between conventional fields and applications. Energy Voyager has compiled a portfolio of thirty projects.
Invention Engine—Energy Voyager has organized the best practices of discovery and invention engineering, and creative problem solving into a proprietary Invention Engine.
Strategic IP Portfolio Analysis—Using advanced invention technology it is possible to deconstruct or circumvent many patent claims, which patent holders believe are secure. Patent holders are vulnerable to patent fences and may be compelled to pay royalties on their own inventions! In an alliance with Ideation International Energy Voyager has developed a special service to assess and strengthen its clients’ IP portfolios in the clean tech/green energy field.
Collaborative Innovation Networks (COINS)—Energy Voyager’s COINS in the fields of distributed storage, clean coal, biofuels, green alliances, and energy poverty accelerate time to market by closely linking sources of discovery and inventions (“technology push”) with the market of users (“market pull”). An excellent example is the “open source” Distributed Energy Storage COIN Energy Voyager has built in collaboration with the Electricity Power Research Institute (EPRI). Energy Voyager can configure and scale these COINS rapidly for individual clients or consortia of companies, focused on a broad range of technical and business challenges.
Strategic Technologies and Strategic Industries—Based on Julian Gresser’s advisory work to the U.S. State Department during the Carter Administration, a subsequent two year course at MIT and Harvard Law School ( 1982-1984), and a book, Partners in Prosperity: Strategic Industries for the United States and Japan (McGraw Hill, 1985), Julian Gresser developed a systematic way (the “Trigger Method”) to identify which technologies and industries today and in the future will become engines of innovation and consequently economic growth. Energy Voyager has incorporated this earlier work within its Open Innovation System as a turnkey advisory service for green cities, industrial parks, and economic development zones around the world.
Clean Tech/Green Energy Council—In collaboration with the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals, Energy Voyager has established a new Clean Tech/Green Energy Council to document and advance best practices in the clean tech/green alliances field, with the spot light on innovation. An international conference on biofuels is being planned in cooperation with the Cambridge Health Tech Institute for the spring 2008.
Japan, China, and India—Energy Voyager has particularly strong networks in Japan , China , and India , which enable Energy Voyager to finance and source opportunities from these countries.
Innovators’ Support Center—Energy Voyager has developed a comprehensive center to support inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs in the clean tech/green energy field.
Energy Voyager Radio—The goals of Energy Voyager Radio are to introduce some of the visionary innovators in the New Global Energy Economy, to explore the secrets of their success, and to begin a conversation around the “jugular questions” of the age.
Wisdom Expert System—It is one thing to make clever decisions; another to be wise. Is it possible that wisdom itself is a learned skill? Virtually all the important decisions we face in meeting the challenges in the New Global Energy Economy will depend on wisdom. Here is an interesting way to develop this fundamental life capacity and to observe what happens when we do.
